WHAT IS FRESH TASTES?
Fresh Tastes is a free ACT Government program that provides resources to support ACT schools to promote healthy lifestyles and implement the ACT Public School Food and Drink Policy. There are 6 key areas within the program and schools participate in activities in each area. They are: Healthy Food and Drink Guidelines, Food for Sale, Classroom Learning, Growing Food, Cooking Food and Food from Home.
WHY FRESH TASTES?
While obesity rates for children remain lower than that of adults in the ACT, The ACT Government has set a target of zero growth for obesity in the ACT. Childhood is the perfect time to learn about and establish habits of a healthy lifestyle and schools have an important role to play in educating and supporting students and families to make healthier choices. Fresh Tastes activities provide opportunities to learn about the connection between good nutrition and good health.
